[3:56 AM] ~Alex~: This is a neat idea
[3:57 AM] ~Alex~: That said, I keep it separate from RL stuff, with the exception of some NLP and conversational persuasive techniques that I use to A) mess with people or B) look after them (both in a professional and personal capacity)
[3:58 AM] ~Alex~: The friendships, though, are definitely something much wider reaching ^_^
[6:34 AM] Gale Falcon: Hai!
[6:35 AM] Gale Falcon: Also my contribution to the topic: So far I have a relaxing trigger and a couple others which I use to keep myself in check and able to function in the world around me which are helpful. So it's valuable, but it doesn't have a /huge/ impact
[10:09 AM] JV: Hmmm.. a lot of it is actually quite applicable to everyday life. Particularly when we learn the "why" and "hows" of hypnosis - e.g. the I guess human behavior side of things?
[10:14 AM] JV: Also, in getting a better understanding of thought processes and the creation, alteration and influence of these processes really aids in communication - in knowing how to better communicate with someone. Also I think it's made me a better listener, because when you're working closely with someone you learn to pick up on a lot of micro "signals" in their responses, which means even in everyday life when I'm talking to someone I'm listening and watching them a lot more carefully and picking up on many more different reactions.
[10:16 AM] JV: I am curious, however - do you guys feel that your experience in the hypnosis community has broadened your perspectives on things (encouraged you to be more open-minded)? If so, Why?
[10:39 AM] DarkElement: So far the only impact for me would be when my friend on skype drops me and I pretty much don't notice/care about anyone nearby my desk in the library. Neat stuff.
[10:46 AM] DarkElement: As for open minded-ness, I would say that I was already pretty open-minded and inquisitive. I have definitely learned a lot from it however, to say the least. Still got a text file full of questions though ?
[10:46 AM] Surgo of Hypnotism +5: Hm. I use hypnosis for everything, basically. As often as I can. There is little that I don't try to force hypnosis into.
[10:47 AM] Surgo of Hypnotism +5: I do hypnotherapy however, so it's kind of a natural extension of that.
[10:48 AM] JV: mmm.. can you elaborate a bit, Surgo?
[11:10 AM] Surgo of Hypnotism +5: Well, headaches, hangovers, giving people a good time, etc. etc.
[11:11 AM] Surgo of Hypnotism +5: Also makes for a great conversation starter in general tbqh
[12:14 PM] eula: I'm having a better mood and more energy for days when I get some hypnosis ?
[12:15 PM] eula: and it imacs my everyday life, because I'm only chatting to hypno-people since 9 months
[3:27 PM] ~Alex~: Also, hypnosis has helped clarify details both on inherent behaviors of the mind that I can mess with, as well as practical techniques for controlling conversation. I'm still not that good at cold reading. Probably going to need to read up on body language in general
[3:28 PM] ~Alex~: @jv That last one is for you
[3:40 PM] Salahare: I have been feeling a lot better and more focused on my personal health since engaging in Live hypnosis. I feel the feedback and evaluation of myself and my reactions to things that happen with Sir have helped me to address many personal issues I had been ignoring or avoiding when i attempted to fall into using fantasy files for the past few years. I think just the increase of my self-awareness also helps me monitor my public behavior so I know more easily when I'm reacting adversely to others and can take the steps to calm myself down (also thanks to some convenient calming triggers i've acquired)
[3:54 PM] JV: @~Alex~ I'm not sure I understand. You mean that it has broadened your perspective on the importance of understanding body language?
[6:53 PM] Deb: Okay so my lil contribution:
I'd have to say that hypnosis has a pretty significant impact on my day to day life. For example, there's a sleep suggestion that my Sir usually gives me before bed. Because of this particular suggestion, I've really been getting a lot more sleep, and the quality of it is also better. Plus, finding little suggestions (like upon hearing someone say __ this happens) through out my day like a scavenger hunt keeps me engaged and happy. As others have already said, hypnosis is also great for keeping my anxiety levels down and for clearing my mind except for the things I need to focus on.
On the flip side, since I'm also a Dom, I'd say that working in the hypno community has made me more observant and a better listener, as well as more aware of people's comfort levels whilst talking about certain topics. The conversational skills I've learned from being around this setting has also helped me to learn to steer conversations in a different direction if they're going down an inappropriate road for the setting.
[7:09 PM] DarkElement: Happy for you
[7:11 PM] Fleatherduck: As for me, hypno was a fun trip. It really showed me what the responsibilities of a Dom should be given that they can have the power of hypno on their side. After all, with great power comes great responsibility. Other than that, I will never forget the fun triggers. Such as: squeeeeeeeeeeee
[7:11 PM] DarkElement: Exactly that many e's?
[7:13 PM] Fleatherduck: Exactly that many e's. Just ask @deb
[7:15 PM] Deb: Good duck! ?
[8:14 PM] ~Alex~: @jv The body language bit I still suck at, imo. However, I know a few neat things that I can do to get people thinking about things covertly, which is useful when you want to help or mess with someone
[9:34 PM] DarkElement: That's really cool
[9:34 PM] DarkElement: What would be an example?
[10:12 PM] JV: Dark, Dark, you should ask for examples
[10:12 PM] JV: So that he doesn't just give one ?
[10:29 PM] DarkElement: That's true! Examples, please ?
[11:58 PM] Gale Falcon: An example might be what he's done with me
[11:59 PM] Gale Falcon: Where he managed to suggest the idea of doing a session with me through conversation which I'd not even consciously registered, and then used the things I'd been talking about to drop me. I won't mention specifics in case anyone gets any ideas. >.>
[11:59 PM] Hay1tsme: owo that's scarry
[12:00 AM] Salahare: ...did you consent?
[12:01 AM] Gale Falcon: I consented
[12:01 AM] Salahare: ok.
[12:01 AM] Gale Falcon: I make it sound much more severe than it was, it was a fun thing. ?
[12:01 AM] Hay1tsme: Oh ^^ still kinda scarry tho
[12:01 AM] Salahare: I love sneaky inductions, but I also get frustrated with them easily
[12:02 AM] Gale Falcon: Plus text-based hypno isn't something I'm hugely vulnerable to. As Briar told me, I'm "spoiled" ?
[12:03 AM] Hay1tsme: I duno if text works on me
[12:03 AM] Hay1tsme: It would be awesome if it did, but early signs are
[12:03 AM] Hay1tsme: Well
[12:03 AM] Hay1tsme: X.x
[12:03 AM] Gale Falcon: It's difficult unless you can imagine a voice speaking the words to you as you read them
[12:04 AM] Gale Falcon: But the problem is for me being able to comprehend the words infringes on the edge of trance
[12:04 AM] Salahare: ...my first ever live session, I was typing and he was on voice lol. And then he gave me text-specific triggers. >>
[12:04 AM] Gale Falcon: So for quite a bit I was falling down, then reading and being pulled back up even as the words pulled me back down
[12:04 AM] Gale Falcon: Oooh fun fun XD
[12:05 AM] Hay1tsme: I know the feel
[12:05 AM] Hay1tsme: It prolly didn't help the the guys first language wasn't english
[12:05 AM] Hay1tsme: Lol
[12:05 AM] Hay1tsme: But yeah, I work best when I can just close my eyes and let my add brain wander
[12:11 AM] ~Alex~: I think with Gale I actually threw it in as an explicit question
[12:11 AM] ~Alex~: Typically I leave the choice of dropping up to the sub, especially if it's conversational
[12:12 AM] ~Alex~: As a tist, without formally arranging things, I have no idea on her situation and whether she's able to commit
[12:12 AM] Hay1tsme: owo cool
[12:12 AM] ~Alex~: As for IRL stuff, one example is double binds
[12:12 AM] ~Alex~: I use it in work all the time, scheduling things
[12:12 AM] ~Alex~: If you ask someone "When do you want to stop in?" You get one of two answers
[12:12 AM] ~Alex~: Either a date and time, or a bunch of nonsense about not knowing their schedule
[12:13 AM] ~Alex~: If you ask them "Do you want to stop by in the next few days or is the weekend better?" then either they pick or they explicitly state that they need to check with someone on their schedule, need to arrange a ride, that it depends on how class goes, etc
[12:14 AM] ~Alex~: Which allows you to either narrow it down with a day, or ask whether the weekend typically works better (cuz I can just pencil you in anyways to make sure we have your stuff set up and give you the number for you to clarify the time and/or reschedule depending on your plans)
[12:14 AM] ~Alex~: It's all about leading the conversation and getting the information that is necessary to actually facilitate what needs to be done
[12:15 AM] Salahare: ooohhh
[12:15 AM] Hay1tsme: I feel like I just took a lesson in psychology
[12:15 AM] Hay1tsme: Lol
[12:15 AM] ~Alex~: If you observe skilled businessmen as they work (car salesmen are notorious) then you can see this stuff in action from someone who does it intuitively
[12:16 AM] ~Alex~: Psychologists and hypnotists often learn names and techniques and such
[12:16 AM] ~Alex~: Salesmen just figure out what works and can't always explain it
[12:16 AM] ~Alex~: But it's all about controlling the direction of conversation, applying the right pressure (limited time stuff, or not willing to put an object on hold) etc etc
[12:16 AM] ~Alex~: Learning about it also opens the door to recognizing when you're being played
[12:17 AM] ~Alex~: Technically you can use it for evil as well, but you could be trying that anyways so I trust your judgements, ethics, and morals
[12:17 AM] ~Alex~: Knowing about gaslighting is the first step to calling it out
[12:17 AM] Hay1tsme: Gaslighting?
[12:19 AM] ~Alex~: Getting someone to believe in something by constantly acting as if it's true and that they're ridiculous for not believing it
[12:19 AM] Hay1tsme: Oh owo
[12:19 AM] ~Alex~: It's used in abusive relationships a lot of times to keep them trapped
[12:19 AM] ~Alex~: It can be used for fun things as well :3
[12:19 AM] Hay1tsme: Heh, I know the dark side of that
[12:19 AM] Hay1tsme: I just didn't know the name, lol
[12:20 AM] Hay1tsme: I'd like to see the fun side tho c:
[12:20 AM] ~Alex~: It's part of the conversational bit of things, and part of it gets covered in suggestions
[12:20 AM] ~Alex~: It's all very poorly defined and separated
[12:20 AM] Hay1tsme: Ah
[12:21 AM] ~Alex~: Alex nods
[12:21 AM] ~Alex~: Lots of overlap and opinions on where the lines fall
[12:25 AM] Gale Falcon: But yeah it was a specific question as to whether I wanted to do a session
[12:38 AM] DarkElement: I would very like to experience a sneak induction but I feel like I would see it coming
[12:39 AM] Gale Falcon: Hmm, the right people can probs do it
[12:40 AM] DarkElement: Also, thank you @~Alex~
[1:10 AM] Krænt: hmmm, since I haven't provided any input yet;
Integrating hypnosis into my everyday life probably made some big changes possible It helped me get over some struggles and smarten up about some life choices. It gave me some structure and introduced me to a new online community where I have made some good friends. I've developed a great ongoing relationship with a great hypnotist that has allowed me to explore and push boundaries of trancing and triggers. I am in a very different place now, and I don't even think I could truly convey the impact that frequent long term reinforcement and exploration has had over the past year. But it's good.
[1:11 AM] DarkElement: Glad to hear it ?
[1:15 AM] Yack: Hypno actually helps me manipulate people XD. as weird as that sounds, i feel my experience working with subs has given me a lot of experience in how to talk to people more openly and assertively. Since starting doing hypno stuff, i feel my assertive side as a person has really developed and i'm really happy to have grown in that way
[1:24 AM] Krænt: nods
[2:14 AM] ~Alex~: @krænt My friend's boyfriend, a dom, has done a similar reorganization of her stuff to make things way better for her economically (ie enforcing frugality and saving for tuition)
[12:21 PM] Hay1tsme: Hypnosis helps me help a friend through the rough time he's been having. Without it, we both probably would have given up on things a while ago
[3:57 AM] ~Alex~: That said, I keep it separate from RL stuff, with the exception of some NLP and conversational persuasive techniques that I use to A) mess with people or B) look after them (both in a professional and personal capacity)
